GREEKS AND ROMANS (600 BCE–529 CE): THE ROMANS
Floor 1ROMANS, unlike the Greeks, they had a rough arithmetic and some approximate geometric formulas; for the calculations they used the aabacus and applied the arithmetic and geometry mainly to the surveying land. There was not only one Roman mathematician.

Roman numeration is not alphabetical. The seven numerical symbols I, V, X, L, C, D, M, are not letters of the Latin alphabet, and only after a long evolution were assimilated to the alphabetic signs.
The Roman numeral system was very limited: unable to represent large numbers, it had no operational effectiveness, and therefore did not serve to make calculations, even the simplest.
