01-09-2021 It was inaugurated, with large public participation, in the historical centre of Urbino la display case on mechanical calculation that tells the story of numbers and algorithms. The display case, realized by Digit, start up of the University of Urbino, in collaboration with the Mateureka Museum of Pennabilli, is part of the project “Original glass” to experiment with new ways to use windows as tools for urban redevelopment and cultural communication.
The display case presents 10 models of mechanical calculators, from Mateureka, and illustrates how it works. Passers can, using their own mobile phone, access video-tutorial and quiz by scanning the Qrcodes.
The Mateureka Museum of Mathematics and Calculation is present at the same time in Urbino, Bologna and Farm Cultural Park in Favara (Sicily) with its own exhibitions and cultural activities that make it an important "motor" of dissemination of scientific culture, as recognized by the prestigious national award “Montefeltro” obtained and from “Mate in Italy” on topics in Italy, which reported Mateureka as a site of excellence for dissemination.
