In this exhibition are presented 100 tables of the Encyclopédie di Diderot e d’Alembert, which most directly recall the philosophy and geometry applied to nature, to other sciences and to man’s work: in architecture, astronomy, artistic techniques, music and tools, sciences and traditional techniques, military art and crafts of everyday life.
It will also be possible to understand the life of the 18th century through the vision of all 2794 tables of Encyclopédie thanks to a specially equipped multimedia station.
A special notation at the birth and importance of Encyclopédie in the 1700s: century of the Lumi and therefore a look at Diderot, d’Alembert and, especially, the mathematicians of the French Revolution: Condorcet, Monge, Carnot, Legendre, Lagrange, Laplace.
The Discours préliminaire of D’Alembert is presented in its entirety, which sets out the philosophical programme and the intellectual commitment of the whole work and now counts among the classical texts of Enlightenment.
