The Lampi laboratory of genius allows the visitor to experiment and “touch with hand” some tools and mathematical ideas thanks to 30 interactive exhibits, here are two examples:
Flashes of Genius
Wheat and chessboard
According to a Persian legend, the Shah promised to award the inventor of chess everything he asked for.
The inventor asked him: “1 grain in the first box, 2 grains in the second, 4 in the third, eight in the fourth and so on, doubling the amount for each new box”: for the whole chessboard of 64 boxes, the number of grain grains is 264A huge number.
We convert number of grains in tons of grain, we get 920 billion of tons (in 1992 the world production of wheat was 564 million !!

Let's play with iron marbles
When the number of scales is large enough, they are placed according to the law of mathematics normal distribution also known as the curve of Gauss, shaped like a bell.
The Galton machine (left) illustrates the “central limit theorem” which plays a fundamental role in the mathematical analysis of apparently so different activities such as polls, the search for new oil fields, stock movements, forecasting in the development of a species, the theory of errors, etc.
