Floor 1GREEKS formulated the two fundamental mental processes of mathematical progress: the abstraction and the demonstration.
Their contribution to the contents of mathematics (the flat and solid geometry, the flat and spherical trigonometry, the beginnings of the theory of numbers, the geometrical algebra, the method of exhaustion, the conception of nature) was immense.
The locations related to the great mathematicians of ancient Greece are: Elea (Zenone), Crotone (Pitagora), Syracuse (Archimede), Mileto (Talete) and Alexandria (Euclide, Apollonius, Hypatia).
