The instrument, invented in 1597, is an extension of the dial and the agrimensorial framework s and serves to solve problems of distance with the trigonometric method or with the triangulation.

- the cipher disc described in the De cifris of L.B. Alberti (1460);
- the work “Dimensional uncertainty of Agathos”, master of mathematical expressionism.

The admirable circular slide rule is described in the “De Cifris” of the Renaissance genius L. B. Alberti, mathematician, architect and theorist of perspective.
