Mathematics Senza Frontiere is the Italian edition of Mathématiques Sans Frontières, born for the high school in 1989 in the North Alsace by Inspection Pédagogique Régionale de Mathématiques, IREM (Institut de Recherche sur l’Enseignement des Mathématiques) and Académie de Strasbourg, since 1990.

Over the years it has extended to many European and non-European countries reaching schools belonging to 38 Nations: Algeria, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Canada, China, Egypt, Arab Emirates, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Ile Maurice, India, Italy, Latvia, Lebanon, Madagascar, Morocco, Mexico, Poland, Czech Republic, United Kingdom, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Tunisia, Taiwan, Togo

In Italy the initiative is promoted by the Regional School Office for Lombardy – Directorate-General, supported and publicized by the Directorate-General for Educational Orders and the Ministry of Education of MIUR.

Both the senior competition and the Logo competition are recognized by MIUR in the Albo of the Excellence Valorization initiatives.
